Traditional meets modern elegance.
This impressive kitchen was given a huge amount of consideration throughout the design process. We created a space with traditional appeal with a modern, sleek yet elegant touch. All appliances installed are top of the range with provide all of the contemporary conveniences suited to the couple’s lifestyle.
The details really do set this kitchen apart and harness the ‘new york apartment’ modern aesthetic - LED lights, polished chrome handles, walnut internals, detailed profiles applied to the polyurethane doors and the magnificent carrara marble bench really do make this kitchen an elegant space exuding luxury.
The details on the doors vary to create further interest and reflect the high quality of workmanship. Profiled doors and detailed doors with bevel edges and glass panels create glossy white surfaces that are a striking contrast to the honed marble bench. Striking contrasting textures create further interest within the space.
Mirrored surfaces are used extensively throughout the kitchen and adjoining spaces. The mirror ties in the appliances and complements the traditional with it’s ultra modern feel. It’s been cleverly used to reflect the magnificent surroundings of the harbour and creates a sense of movement within the space. The reflections never stop moving so a sense of intrigue is created within the kitchen.
The need for high tech appliances have been answered with the inclusion of the integrated Leibherr fridge and freezer, Miele oven and cooktop and Vintec wine fridge. There is no doubt that this space will be perfect for entertaining.
The sleek kitchen appearance is softened though the use of the dark stained American oak floor. The warm and cool balance is achieved.
The luxurious nature of the kitchen has been enhanced through the decision to incorporate the cararra marble bench with a substantial 40mm pencil edge. This gives the kitchen a grounding contrasting against the buoyant nature created by the mirror splashback. Mirror has also been used to cleverly disguise one of the structural posts so that it essentially disappears into the surroundings beyond the apartment. This adds to the feeling of spaciousness.
Storage has been supplied - designing cabinetry that extends to the ceiling has meant that we can make full use of the space. Within the cabinets we have made a conscious decision to make a change to the internal finish. The Polytech ‘Oxley Walnut’ timber veneer gives the kitchen a feeling of completeness - every last detail has been addressed. In regards to storage the following internal hardware has been incorporated: mini pantry with bottle insert, vertical storage, leman corner solution, custom detailed divider systems in the drawers (with custom made felt bases), electronic doors to open the bins and a custom made pull boy bin with tea towel holder. The pantry provides adequate storage for all items to be placed away neatly creating a clutter free kitchen. The pantry is finished with drawers and shaped shelves.
Lighting was also an important consideration. Another element of warmth is being brought into the space, softening it slightly. As well as contributing to the aesthetic nature of the space, the lighting serves a functional purpose. Task lighting and ceiling hanging lights, strip lights in the kicks and sensor lights in the pantry all combine to make this kitchen highly practical and functional.
The sophisticated surfaces of this beautiful kitchen have been selected with durability and ease of cleaning in mind. The modern use of corian sink helps to achieve this, it seamlessly fits into the bench without disrupting the straight lines created by the sleek surface.
This imaginatively designed kitchen seeks to blend generous working spaces, modern appliances, clever storage solutions with a timeless traditional aesthetic. It’s evolved into an artwork in itself complementing the surroundings. The shiny details allow the eye to wander casually throughout the space and out into the landscape beyond. Appreciation can be made of the subtle touches some concealed, some out on show. All help to make this kitchen unique and a pleasure to live in and use for years to come.
